Dan "Sully" Sullivan and J.W. Basilo are two halves of the Stand-Up Poetry duo, Beard Fight! True students of the Chicago spoken word tradition, their narrative, anthemic poetry is often hilarious, occasionally heart-warming and always engaging. They have appeared on HBO's Def Poetry Jam, National Public Radio, The National Poetry Slam, and your mom's couch. They are members of The Speak'Easy Ensemble directed by Poetry Slam Founder Marc "So What!” Smith. They've performed at hundreds of colleges, universities, schools, prisons, museums, festivals, theaters, coffeehouses, bars, clubs, backyard jamborees, renegade art fairs, gas stations and community centers across North America & Europe.
Their work has been published in numerous magazines & anthologies including “Learn Then Burn: A Modern Poetry Anthology for the Classroom”, “Muzzle Magazine”, “Poems From The Big Muddy: The 2004 National Poetry Slam Anthology”, “Union Station” and “The Columbia Poetry Review”, and online as part of Border's Open Door Poetry. They've shared stages with the likes of Alicia Keyes, KRS-One, Wyclef, Smokey Robinson, Ani DiFranco, Sage Francis, and Nikki Giovanni. Apart, Sully & Baz are bearded, reclusive creeps. Together, they are BEARD FIGHT!
